About Sacramental Preparation

The Faith Formation staff and volunteers, in accordance with diocesan policy, oversee the preparation of children and adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation; and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In some cases, students are required to attend class one to two years prior to the preparation for the sacrament.

Baptisms, for infants to age 6, are arranged through the parish office. Older children who have not been baptized will receive age-appropriate preparation to be received into the Church.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist require participation in grade-level faith formation classes and attendance at parent sessions with at least one adult from their household.

Confirmation preparation requires sacramental preparation classes with the parent/sponsor in addition to participation in at least two consecutive years of Faith Formation (Outcry for high school). The sacramental preparation classes occur in the second consecutive year of faith formation. In addition, in order to be Confirmed, the candidate must: be a high school student of at least 15 years of age, participate in any additional requirements (e.g., Confirmation Retreat, Day of Service), and submit all relevant forms and documentation.

Marriage Preparation - Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! We are pleased that you would like to have your wedding at Emmaus Catholic Parish/Queen of Angels Chapel and we wish to help you to celebrate your joy. Guidelines are designed to answer as many questions as possible and to instruct you on the marriage preparation process and your wedding.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process by which adults become members of the Roman Catholic Church. RCIA is a journey of learning, praying, community, and faith formation that prepares individuals for initiation into the Church.
