All youth of the parish in grades 3-12 who have received their First Holy Communion are welcome to participate in the life of our parish as an altar server. This is a special privilege and a wonderful way to respond to God's call for service to one another. The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest or deacon in the celebration of the liturgy and the Eucharist during Mass. Altar servers should be active and full participants in the celebration with the understanding that they are leaders of the assembly. They set an example for the congregation through prayer, song, and silence. New servers must attend a training session which includes information on the Mass and their specific duties. They are then scheduled to serve on a team once every four weeks. Training sessions are held as needed throughout the year.

These ministers assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at the Mass. Through humble service as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, the minister is united to the fellow members of the Body of Christ. Service inside the liturgy should make visible the faith and love the minister manifests outside the liturgy. These ministers should be active and full participants in the celebration with the understanding that they are leaders of the assembly. Eucharistic Ministers must be in good standing in the Church. They set an example for the congregation through prayer, song, and silence. Participation in one or more of the many opportunities for adult formation or prayer ministries is expected. A two-hour training session is required. Time commitment is variable.

This ministry brings spiritual enrichment through the Holy Eucharist to individuals who are unable to participate fully in parish liturgy because of age or incapacity. These individuals include residents at numerous assisted-living facilities in the Lakeway area as well as other parishioners who are homebound on a temporary or long-term basis due to illness or injury. Time commitments are selected by individual ministers when they schedule their service.

Greeters welcome everyone as they enter the church for Mass. The first contact that a visitor or one of our parishioners experience as they enter church is our greeting at the door. We welcome each person as we would a good friend into our home with a smile and a friendly word. We help with directions, open or hold doors, if needed, and respond to questions. Time commitment is 20-30 minutes prior to Mass once a month.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass. The Mass readers will read the first and second readings and the responsorial psalm if no cantor is present. One reader is scheduled for each daily Mass, and two readers are scheduled for each weekend Mass and usually read once a month. Emmaus uses on online scheduling system, so the internet and email are helpful but not required. Emmaus Readers range in age from teens to seniors. Training is provided. Consider sharing your talents by proclaiming God's Word.

The parish plants inside the church and PLC at Emmaus get thirsty. Can you help? It doesn’t take much time – just a weekly visit with a trusty watering can. Please contact the parish office if you’d like to give it a try. This would be a great opportunity for a faith formation parent while their child is in class!

The Usher Ministry is open to men and women from high school age and up. Ushers aid in seating the congregation, taking the collection, and handing out bulletins. These are easy tasks and are very much appreciated by Mass attendees. Time commitment can be as little as one Mass per month to whatever you can offer as an assigned team member or substitute. This is a great ministry for parents whose children are altar servers.
